In the past 3 years, Debré Barrett has spent a lot of time hanging out with nurses and doctors in a variety of settings – from township clinics in shipping containers, to specialist surgical teams in tertiary hospitals. She has watched them use a variety of apps on phones, tablets and desktop computers. And I’ve noticed that the same UI mistakes are made over and over again – and the impact of those mistakes can really ruin someone’s work day.
About the speaker:
Debré Barrett is a UX designer, product manager and entrepreneur. She started her career in the UK at the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV websites. She was a founder of Flow Interactive, South Africa’s first user experience design agency, which she sold to Deloitte Digital in 2014. During the last 3 years she helped healthcare app Vula to grow from 50 to 5,000 users. She has advised clients like Virgin Active, Google, Samsung and Barclays, and has co-created and taught courses in UX design and product management. She currently consults for How Might We, a UX design agency.
